The Walker family has a long history in the farming industry, dating back to Jim Walker's ranching days in British Columbia's lower mainland in the 1960s. After transitioning from ranch-life to orchard-life, Jim began selling his fresh BC fruit at Calgary's farmers markets. Finding great demand for his premium product, Jim expanded his operations to Edmonton, where his cousin Joyce Goodwin operated the Old Strathcona farmers market.

In the summer of 1993, Sharon, a dedicated staff member, brought her 8-year-old son Chris to work at the St. Albert stand, where he quickly became Jim's right-hand man. After many summers of selling fruit, Chris and his cousin Travis, both red seal journeyman carpenters, went on to become the proud owners of Walker Orchards in 2021.

Chris and Travis bring a hardworking mentality and an appreciation for aesthetics and doing things right. They are proud to be Edmonton's only locally owned BC fruit company, and they are committed to bringing the best produce from British Columbia to the Edmonton area. With over 40 years of experience, Walker’s has established a reputation for excellence in the farmers market community.
